The activity will commence with hotel pick-up at 06:00 AM, with the collection time potentially adjusted during the months of June and July. This tour takes you to El Chaltén from El Calafate for an unforgettable trek to Laguna de los Tres, located at the base of the renowned Mount Fitz Roy.
The trek along the Fitz Roy path spans a challenging 20 kilometers. The duration of the hike may vary depending on individual pace and physical condition, but typically takes between 8 to 9 hours, including short breaks to admire the breathtaking landscape that will captivate you throughout the journey.
The activity kicks off with convenient hotel pick-up. As you travel along Route 40, keep an eye out for local wildlife and enjoy the possibility of witnessing a stunning sunrise over the hills, weather permitting.
Once you arrive at your destination, you will receive a briefing about the trail, as well as walking sticks and a map, before commencing the trek.
During the initial section, you’ll cross the forest until reaching Laguna Capri, the first technical stop. The color of the water and the surrounding nature at this lagoon will undoubtedly leave you astonished, not to mention the unmissable views of Fitz Roy.
Continuing along the trail, you’ll cross the Río Blanco bridge until reaching Camping Poincenot, an untouched campsite nestled amidst the native forest.
Upon crossing Poincenot, you’ll commence the ascent to Laguna de los Tres. This final kilometer is the most challenging section due to its elevation and terrain conditions. However, the incredible vistas along the way, including a panoramic view of the Mother and Daughter Lagoon from above, make it truly worthwhile.
Just when you think you’re about to reach your destination, prepare for another 300-meter climb. But once you reach the top, the overwhelming beauty of nature and the mesmerizing color of the water will leave you speechless. It’s an indescribable feeling.
You’ll arrive in Chaltén at 18:00, and your return to your hotel in El Calafate is expected at 9:00 p.m.

Upon arrival, your transportation will be waiting to take you on an unforgettable 8-hour trek along the Fitz Roy Trail, covering a total distance of 20 km and reaching an elevation of 1,200 meters.
As you traverse various landscapes, ranging from lush forests to more austere surroundings adorned with shimmering water mirrors, you’ll ultimately arrive at Laguna de los Tres.
During the winter season, this breathtaking landscape is covered in a blanket of snow. For your safety, we’ll provide you with crampons and poles to ensure a secure trekking experience.
The first 4 kilometers serve as a warm-up, offering incredible views of the Rio de las Vueltas Valley as you journey through forests and across streams, leading you to Laguna Capri.
Continuing along the same trail, you’ll eventually reach km 8, where you’ll find the Poincenot Camping site and the Rio Blanco. This is where the more challenging kilometers begin. It is crucial to be mindful of the time, as the descent from Laguna de los Tres to the town will take approximately 4 hours.
For the return journey, you’ll retrace the same path you took earlier. However, it’s important to note that there is one detour point to be aware of, which is the Mirador del Fitz Roy. Please refrain from taking this path, as it may hinder search and rescue efforts if necessary. The recommended route is through Laguna Capri.
At 7:00 PM, we will reconvene in town to commence our return trip, leaving behind cherished memories of this unforgettable experience.
