The tour of Salta starts early in the morning, heading towards the town of Gral. Güemes and taking the highway that leads to the province of Jujuy. To reach Iruya, the only access is through the Quebrada de Humahuaca. On this excursion, the capital of Jujuy is skipped to enter directly into the Quebrada de Humahuaca. Stops are made in the towns of Purmamarca, Tilcara, and Humahuaca. During this part of the tour, points of interest such as the Cerro de los Seven Colores, the Church of Purmamarca, the Pucará de Tilcara, La Paleta del Pintor, Uquía, the Monument to the Heroes of Independence, and the main squares of each town are visited. There are also designated stops for photography in Maimará and at the Tropic of Capricorn crossing. After touring Humahuaca, the route takes a detour to the East to re-enter the province of Salta. The town of Iturbe is passed through, which still survives despite the abandonment of the railroad long ago. Climbing towards the Abra del Cóndor, the highest point, a curvy and winding path through a desert landscape is traversed until reaching an altitude of 4000 meters above sea level. This is the natural border between the provinces of Jujuy and Salta, offering a breathtaking view of the vastness of the place. From this point, a descent of 1220 meters over a distance of just 19 km begins. The road, with its curves and cliffs, provides an impressive landscape until reaching the entrance to Iruya. Upon crossing the Milmahuasi River (which can sometimes prevent access to the town during the summer), the splendid town of Iruya comes into view, nestled among the mountains.
The itinerary includes stops at Jump, Apacheta del Abra del Cóndor (4,000 meters above sea level), and Iruya. The return journey passes through Uquía (known for its Cuzqueña paintings), Maimará, “Paleta del Pintor,” Volcán, Tumbaya, Yala, San Salvador de Jujuy, and finally Salta.

DAY 1: Begin your journey in Salta and travel south on Provincial Route 68, where you will be treated to scenic views of the Lerma Valley’s farms and tobacco plantations. Take in the sight of the adobe and clay chimneys used for drying tobacco leaves, and witness the tobacco leaves being dried in the sun.
While passing through the town of Alemania, marvel at the stunning red mountains and rock formations, including attractions such as the “Devil’s Throat” and “House of the Parrots.”
Arrive in Cafayate and visit a local winery to learn about the wine industry and taste the famous Torrontes wines. After a delicious lunch, return to Salta via a different route, allowing you to experience a completely different landscape from the morning drive.
Day 2: Embark on a full-day tour from Salta to San Salvador de Jujuy. Your adventure begins with a visit to the towns of La Quebrada de Humahuaca.

Our adventure begins with a pick up from San Salvador de Jujuy at 09:00 a.m. From there, we will make our way to Humahuaca City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on the outskirts of the Jujuy province. This enchanting city will expose us to the most breathtaking colors of northern Argentina, as well as introduce us to the region’s unique culture, towns, and people.
Our first stop along the way is Purmamarca, where we will encounter the awe-inspiring 7-colors Hill. This majestic marvel is sure to leave you in awe. Continuing our journey, we will visit Tilcara, another picturesque town that showcases the beauty and charm of the region.
